Watercolorist, Steven J. White is a self-taught artist. He was born in Chincoteague, Virginia and grew up in northern New Jersey. He graduated from Lyndhurst High School in 1970 and served four years in the US Air Force.

He began painting professionally in 1987. His paintings are traditional landscapes done in transparent watercolor. His emotional attachment to the outdoors motivates him to record scenes on paper as a way to preserve what he sees disappearing. He has become known for his ability to capture the beauty of nature.

His paintings have been selected for awards by The Salmagundi Club, The Hazleton Art League, The Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolors, Ridgewood Art Institute and The Perkiomen Valley Art Center. He was a finalist in the Artist's Magazine's Annual Competition in 1992, 2000 and 2003. His artwork has been featured on the cover of the Montgomery County Town& Country Magazine, and The Equine Marketer and was selected for publication in " Splash 7: The Qualities of Light" by North Light Books.

He has been a Signature Member of the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society since 1995. He is also a member of The Philadelphia Watercolor Society, The Perkiomen Valley Art Center and The Greater Norristown Art League.
